Privacy Policy

Overview

Refuge Faith is a private prayer, daily-text, and journal app. Every design decision starts from one rule: your words are your own. The app does not have a server, does not create accounts, and does not transmit your content anywhere.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Refuge Faith operates entirely on your device with no servers, accounts, or cloud sync. Your prayers, journal entries, chosen tradition, and any other content you create never leave your device.

What stays on your device:

• Prayers you write (title, details, optional tag, answered status)
• Journal entries
• Chosen faith tradition and daily-reminder preferences
• In-app purchase status
• On-device semantic embeddings used for the “Echoes” feature (see below)

What we do NOT collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone, address)
• Location data
• Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
• Advertising identifiers
• Health, fitness, or biometric data
• The content of your prayers or journal — ever

Third-Party Services

Refuge Faith uses three Apple-provided services. None of them transmit your prayer or journal content:

• Apple StoreKit — processes the Refuge Pro in-app purchase. Transactions are handled entirely by Apple and are subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple WidgetKit — powers the home screen widget. The widget reads today’s daily verse from a private App Group on your device.
• Apple’s on-device NaturalLanguage models — the “Echoes” feature uses Apple’s NLContextualEmbedding framework to find semantic connections between your own prayers and your own journal entries. The embedding model is downloaded from Apple’s CDN the first time it is used, then runs entirely offline. Your prayer and journal content is never sent over the network at any point — it is only processed by the model locally on your device.

We do not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or cloud services.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed. You can also wipe everything manually from Settings → Data → Clear All Data.

Refuge Pro’s “Export Journal” feature produces a plain-text file that you choose where to send. We never see or store these exports.

Religious and Faith Data

The tradition you choose (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Spiritual) is stored locally on your device only. We do not know which tradition anyone uses Refuge for. We do not collect, analyze, or share any religious information about you.

Children’s Privacy

Refuge Faith does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to function.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
